Miss Dior Cherie: Natalie Portman Channels Catherine Deneuve

Loving the new ad for Miss Dior Cherie, which features Natalie Portman in a totally come-hither avataar inspired by Catherine Deneuve in Belle de Jour. Classicism, sensuality and mystery all rolled into one pretty package!

Vitamin C(ars)

Air scarves, massage seats, mood lighting… do you feel that just sitting in your car is increasingly becoming a good alternative to a spa visit? Now Nissan goes a (huge) step further with its plans to start pumping breathable Vitamin C through the air conditioning vents of its cars, thereby ensuring that even a short drive will be chock-full of skin friendly benefits (goodbye dehydration and wrinkles, hello antioxidants!)!

And that’s not all. The car manufacturer also plans to install NASA-developed chairs that have been designed to improve blood circulation and minimise back pain. Besides this, the future also holds “friendly speedometers” that will remind you of important events like birthdays and anniversaries.

“We want drivers to feel that they are healthier staying in the car instead of on the outside,” a Nissan engineer was quoted as saying. We might just never step out of these plush environs!

Very Valentine: Van Cleef & Arpel’s Midnight in Paris Pour Homme

Looking for the Valentine gift for your man? You can’t go wrong with a celestial offering like Van Cleef & Arpel’s new Midnight in Paris.

Directly inspired by  an  eponymous watch from the design house and crafted by Domitille Bertier in collaboration with Olivier Polge, this fragrance possesses all the poetry of a starry night seen from the heart of the city of light. Faceted like a rare timepiece, it instantly emits a sparkling freshness. An explosion of citrus fruits – lemon and bergamot – merge with the aromatic touch of rosemary. The still distant pulse of leather starts to beat on the skin while a note of matcha green tea appears as if from a dream. The rhythm accelerates with the arrival of black lily-of-the-valley, a floral clarity contrasting with animal sensuality that is completely devoid of innocence. Blackened by the ink of styrax essence, the scent has notes of lapsang souchong and an oriental balm base. An overdose of almond-flavoured tonka bean, melting benzoin and incense interweave the fragrance trail to leave a distinguished, daring and elite signature. You cannot help but be entranced!

Price: Rs. 4,900 / $95 for 125 ml; Rs. 3,900 / $75 for 75 ml; Rs. 2,500 / $50 for 40 ml

L’Oreal Takes Up The Cudgels for Aishwarya Rai

Lately, it seems that every time you turn around, there is a fresh new controversy buzzing around Aishwarya Rai – the latest being the speculation that she has been unceremoniously dumped by L’Oréal, based on the fact that the light eyed lady was nowhere to be seen in the brand’s New Year commercial. This, it seems, could not be further from the truth. And L’Oréal is clearly sparing no effort in clarifying it’s stand. Here, verbatim, is the media statement released by the brand:

We are  shocked and surprised to read  in some sections of the media/press about Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being replaced as the face of L’Oréal Paris.

L’Oréal Paris  strongly reiterates that this is absolutely untrue and that Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to be our valued spokesperson, as she has since 2000. While she remains an integral part of the L’Oréal Paris world wide Dream Team, she was unfortunately unavailable for our New Year commercial shoot due to prior commitments.

She is one of the most iconic women of our times and is certainly the face of L’Oréal Paris internationally and in India for a range of  products  which include campaigns for  Total Repair 5, Excellence Crème, Color Riche, Hydrafresh.
