It was something of a Project Runway challenge, where contestants had to cut up paper to create something truly beautiful. The result? M.A.C.’s new Prêt-à-Papier makeup collection, whose core palette of parchment-to-vellum beiges is punctuated with occasional pops of corals, peaches and pastel pinks to keep step with summer. These softer, more muted hues are perfect for those seeking a more natural look paired with sophisticated subtlety.
Finally, finally, finally…. Aishwarya Rai showcased a sari at Cannes and did it (almost) perfectly!! She walked the red carpet for the premiere of Outrage draped in a stunning burnished gold creation by Sabyasachi, accompanied by hubby Abhishek Bachchan.
Dramatic eye makeup, sculpted cheeks, nude lips (see, we told you the ‘play up one feature’ trick works wonders!!), minimal jewellery and a tiny bindi made her look completely different, far prettier and much, much better than the weird blends of Day 1 & Day 2.
So, why “almost”? I still think that she looks far better with open hair – the tightly pulled back style makes her look too severe, a tad matronly and older than usual.
There is just something about Cannes that seems to bring out the worst in Aish – otherwise known as one of the world’s most beautiful and stylish woman. Except, maybe, sort of, these last two days. The black Hervé Leger black dress, complete with understated makeup, minimal jewellery and tumbling curls totally rocked at a photo call for Raavan.
The arm candy could have done with some (lots!!) of work though. Red leather jacket, blue denims, black shoes – exactly what were you thinking Abhishek??
With so many makeup collections floating around nowadays, its a rare one that gets me excited enough to want to run out of the house that very minute….but I simply cant wait to get my hands on MAC’s new Give Me Liberty of London goodies. For the uninitiated, Liberty is a charming Brit store, housed in a gorgeous Tudor building on London’s Regent Street, and is best known for its exquisite prints.
The two iconic brands have collaborated on a full makeup collection – complete with romantic sounding names like Petals & Peacocks, Prim & Proper, Dame’s Desire and Blue India. And the packaging is just as delectable as the products themselves – I see myself being hard pressed to throw out the empty tubes and cases. Blooming lovely, as one would say!
