Finally, it’s here! The most buzzed after beauty campaign of the year, the first time ever that a man has played the lead in a commercial for Chanel No. 5.
What do you think? Seduced by the voice? By the man? Will you be rushing out to buy the perfume? I love the words but am even more convinced that this commercial (much as I love Brad Pitt and Chanel No. 5… separate from each other) is not for me. As I said earlier, I like my perfume ads seductive, sultry, feminine, haunting and pretty. I want to buy a perfume that makes me feel beautiful and sexy and confident and intriguing and exotic and mysterious – from the inside out. I usually don’t want to wear a perfume just because a man tells me so. I want to wear it because the woman inside me likes it! Audrey Tatou, Vanessa Paradis, even Marilyn Monroe… all them made for gorgeous altar egos. Brad Pitt, not so much.
Oh! And all those men who are ecstatic that No. 5 now comes in a male version… this ad does nothing to dispel that chatter. So, Chanel really needs to rethink the message it’s sending out!
Your thoughts? Like? Not like?

I agree. Chanel No.5 is timeless and needs to guard that image.
However, I would listen to B.P. read the telephone directory;)
Lol… that, I agree. But he still doesn’t manage to convince me to buy the perfume. Or rather buy more of the perfume as I have some 6 bottles of No. 5 scattered around my house at any time!
boringggggggggg ad
It just leaves me cold
I guess Mr. Pitt has never really been my cup of tea… and this time is no exception. I’m an art director and I’ve worked in advertising agencies around the world, I’ve seen bad ads before, uninspired, fake, all kinds of ‘bad’ really. This is just uninspired, plain, boring, and just like you said: doesn’t make me want to buy the product. Bottom line: it fails its main purpose.
Best,
Ana
Simply can’t understand what Chanel was thinking!
