Christian Louboutin at Paris' Crazy Horse Cabaret

It all started with a nail polish (scroll down!), so it’s only fitting that the Emperor of Red Soles should take a sidestep into the world of beauty now. Yes, Christian Louboutin has unveiled plans for a beauty line called Christian Louboutin Beauté, in association with Batallure Beauty LLC. Though the products remain shrouded in mystery for now, I am guessing the designer’s signature glossy red will pop up throughout.

And this is certainly not for the wallflower: Expect something bold and sexy, as Louboutin tells WWD that, ”Beauty products also have to do with empowering women.” Another hint: He is much inspired by the bust of Nefertiti that is housed at the Neues Museum in Berlin. “It’s the most beautiful thing,” he told WWD. “It’s a perfect beauty and the makeup is quite perfect.”

The collection is expected to hit the shelves in Spring 2013… let the countdown commence! Till then, I will go back to indulging in the ‘Louboutin Mani’, where the underside of the nail is painted red (Adele wore it to the Grammys this year).

PS: For the uninitiated, Christian Louboutin signature red heels came about when the stiletto wizard was working on a new prototype in 1992, while an assistant sat nearby painting her nails. Louboutin took one look at the cherry-red nail polish and deciding it was the “missing element” he had been looking for all along, slathered the bottoms of his heels with the lacquer. Thus was born the world’s most coveted sole!
