You either love the new James Bond movie or hate it. Personally, I feel it’s more like an overgrown Harry Potter for adults. Where are the gizmos, Mr. Bond? And where are the uber-glam, uber-sexy women? Not that that’s my reason to see a Bond movie but the fashion and beauty looks definitely make for some interesting sleuthing and conversations.
All that we have in the newest Bond Girl Severine’s (Bérénice Marlohe) blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in Skyfall is her glittering body hugging gown that I could die for if I had the body to pull it off. And since this was going to be the only sartorial moment for the lady, costume designer Jany Temime left no stone unturned to make it memorable.
Even though Severine wore it for about 2 minutes, Temime teamed up with Swarovski to apply a whopping 60,000 crystals one-by-one to create the stunningly sexy design. “I saw crystal print designs in Swarovski’s Atelier in Paris and knew I wanted to create a bespoke crystal ‘tattoo’ design for Severine’s dress,” says Temime. “We applied the crystal tattoos, with over 60,000 Swarovski Elements, onto very fine tulle for the arms, neckline, back and sides of the dress, accentuating Severine’s exquisite figure.”
Sleek, sparkling and sophisticated… the perfect Bond woman. If only she was onscreen for longer than 10 minutes! What did you think of Skyfall? Loved it or hated it? And Severine? Any part of her look that you can’t wait to copy this party season? Tell me and I will get you the details!
