If it’s summer, it’s time to update your beauty wardrobe with the latest limited edition version of Clinique’s Happy in Bloom perfume. This sparkling, cheery daytime scent has been coming back in slightly different guises almost every year* ever since its original debut in 2006. This year’s version, I am told, has been inspired by “a frosted spring morning with an aura of dew laden flowers,” with notes of yellow plum, a cocktail of frozen fruit and watery green notes joining the original lily of the valley, white freesia and mimosa to create a feminine crispness that’s underlaid with a subtle, earthy base of transparent amber and white wood. Cool and fizzy – could there be a better summer combo?
And much as I am loving the perfume, a huge part of the fun of discovering a brand new Happy in Bloom is the packaging – 2012 brings a kaleidoscopic ’60s-esque floral pattern, in keeping with the season’s penchant for prints. This one is surely going to join the other five on my dressing table. What about you? Which one has been your favourite so far?
