From the quirkiest nail art ever to hot tubs full of beer, here are the beauty scoops that are not to be missed this week.
Ultrasound nails? The latest beauty trend to hit baby showers and gender reveal parties, nail art reflecting the little jelly bean growing in your tummy is the latest way to wear your heart on your hands. Weird as it may sound, there’s an unexpected mental health component here: For some, they are a way to remember and honor a lost pregnancy.
Dream job alert: You can now get paid to eat avocados. For real. Four US universities – UCLA, Penn State, Tufts University, and Loma Linda – are looking for 1,000 participants to eat an avocado-a-day for six months. The universities are working on the Habitual Diet and Avocado Trial to work out whether avocados can help with weight loss. Almost 200 avocados and you also get paid $300 for the pleasure. #winwin
Talk about a killer perfume: Based on experiments at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo in New York, forest officials in India are planning to use CK’s Obsession For Men to lure a 5-year-old tigress that has been creating havoc. Yes, it’s a perfume. No, I don’t know if CK is happy about this development.
Rosie-Huntington Whiteley says she’s quite a happy user of photo editing apps – specifically Facetune, VSCO Cam and Afterlight – to brush up her skin when it’s not quite there. Refreshing departure from all the #iwokeuplikethis and #ilooklikethisdepitepizzandburgers crap that’s pulled by most others of her ilk!
There may be a Lady Gaga cosmetics line soon, based on information seeping out of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Rumors says it will be called Haus Beauty, and shall have a full lineup of everything you need for star power. Including face scrubs, body masks, self tan, nail polish, foundation, eyeliners, bronzers, highlighters… and much, much more!
Malt massages, shower beers, in-room taps, beer pong, and brewery views: The world’s first fully immersive craft beer experience comes together at The DogHouse in Columbus, Ohio. The “beer hotel” – anchored by the Scottish brewer BrewDog – has 33 rooms and may soon be getting a luxury suite with a hot tub full of beer as well. Definitely the “’hoppiest’ place on Earth”, right?
