Move over Pippa Middleton, Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes is here with a pert derriere that can out-rival any other!
Men, kindly pick up your jaws off the floor. Ladies, you might be glad to know (I think!) that while most models would have you believe they eat whatever they like – “I eat burgers and French fries!” they protest, as if they fall out of bed every day looking like a magazine advertisement – the 27-years-old Kroes is more realistic about what it takes to get into such fabulous shape: “It was tough, it’s lots of workouts and Adriana is back and she had her son seven months ago.” And that’s not all… there is also the diet to consider. Just hours before the show, Kroes tweeted a picture sharing the ingredients of her diet smoothies – flaxseed, coconut, calcium powder and Acai berries.
On a more regular basis, the super-sexy model says that, “I always try to eat organic and healthy and fresh but now before the show I take it a little bit more extreme and cut out all of the sugar and carbs. So, I’m really craving some french fries but it’s nice too because at this moment, my body is probably the healthiest it can get. I eat lots of veggies, I drink green juices, I eat avocado and celery and all these things.”
New mom (she delivered barely 2 months before the show), 31-year-old Adriana Lima’s regime is even more brutal: “It is really intense, it’s not really the amount of time you spend working out, it’s the intensity: I jump rope, I do boxing, I lift weights… but I get bored doing that. If I am not moving, I get bored very easily.”
As for her diet, before last year’s Victoria’s Secret runway show Lima revealed that she takes nutritionist-prsecribed protein shakes, vitamins and supplements to keep energy levels up during the rigorous training period (intense workouts twice a day with a personal trainer). She also drinks a gallon of water a day. For nine days before the show, she will drink only protein shakes – “no solids”. Two days before the show, she stops the daily gallon of water and “just drinks normally”. Then, 12 hours before the show, she will stop drinking entirely to give her sleek physique that fat-free, ripped appearance. “No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that,” she explains, insisting that she doesn’t crash diet all year-round.
Well! Once a year would be once too often for me. Next time I feel self-pity for not looking like a Victoria’s Secret model in my lacey unmentionables, I will just remember: Two-a-days, liquid diets and total starvation. What about you? Would you go the extreme route for a big event? Do tell!
