It definitely pays to be smokin’ hot, if the recently released Forbes’ 2012 list of the world’s highest-earning models is any indication. No less than 6 of the top 10 slots are taken by Victoria’s Secret Angels – that elite group of women who possess some of planet Earth’s most famous bodies.
At the top of the pile is former Victoria’s Secret model Gisele Bündchen, who took home an estimated $45 million last year. She was joined in the Top 10 by these current Angels, who just walked the ramp for the lingerie brand’s annual extravaganza:
- Adriana Lima at fourth place with $7.3 million
- Doutzen Kroes at fifth with $6.9 million
- Alessandra Ambrosio at sixth with $6.6 million
- Miranda Kerr at seventh with $4 million
- Candice Swanepoel at 10th with $3.1 million
However, being a Victoria’s Secret Angel is by no means an easy task: gruelling workouts, liquid diets and sometimes total starvation are the price you pay for fame and the big bucks. Plus, it’s not even just about the looks… the Angels don’t just appeal to the men but also need to connect with the women to actually sell the lingerie. “And… they never appear in men’s magazines. Once you start to do that, they become threatening [to potential female customers],” further explains DNA Model Management’s Richard Habberley, talking to WWD.
Well, I am pretty sure the menfolk are busy lusting over the latest Victoria’s Secret Swimwear 2013 video, where the Angels are at their sultriest best while frolicking in the ocean to the soundtrack of Maroon 5’s Woman. I, in the meantime, have this crazy compulsion to hit the gym and renew those New Year’s resolutions after watching these über-sexy ladies rolling in the sand and posing on the beach dressed in teeny nothings that perfectly showcase their more-than-perfect bods and skin. Excuse me while I lie down till the feeling passes!
