Yup, I do know the drill… if I sleep 7-8 hours every night, clear my mind of every single stressful thought, drink enough water, eat the right foods and religiously apply an eye cream with SPF, the dark circles under my eyes will go away.
However, since that’s not going to happen any time this decade, I could not rush out fast enough to buy Clinique’s Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector, which promises to lessen dark circles by up to 30% within 12 weeks (about 2 tubes).
Now, with a lot of other brands I would take this claim with a huge pinch of salt but this is Clinique – a brand that is not given to exaggeration, is backed by solid dermalogical research and believes in the philosophy of “less is more” where skincare is concerned.
So, what does the Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector do? It actually works on several levels – hydrating, reducing puffiness and fading dark circles with a cocktail of Vitamin C, Mulberry root, whey protein, caffeine and green tea extract.
Plus, it uses something called ‘Translucent Optics Technology’ to immediately lessen the appearance of dark circles.
Which is perfect as I am always on the lookout for the holy grail product that gives a pretty instant indication about its effects. I don’t want to wait 8 weeks (or 12 weeks) because by that time I will have forgotten what my skin looked like in the first place! Also, I hate having to buy multiple tubes of a product before I have any indication of whether it works for me or not.
Instant gratification aside, what I love most about this new launch from Clinique is the soothing metal tip of the applicator. For the last few weeks, I have found myself reading my Kindle and using this cooling massage tip at night (I pop it in the fridge for a couple of hours before dinner, so it’s all cool and ready to go at bedtime!). This feels so refreshing that I actually find myself sleeping better sans the gritty, sore-eye feeling courtesy long hours spent in front of the computer. And for the first time in many, many months, people have stopped telling me that I am looking exhausted. So, yes, it works!
